Taking An Inventory Of Your Life (How To Have a Blessed/Happy 2017)

Every year that comes to an end, brings with it a whole bunch of emotions. Happiness, gratitude, and excitement are all feelings that we feel, but sometimes there is a darker side to our reflections. Sometimes we feel some guilt, or some regret, or even some shame. these are natural feelings, and though God doesn’t want us to feel this way on the turn of the New Year, it is not sinful for us to do so.

In this blog post, I want to introduce you to a concept I’m calling ‘Taking An Inventory Of Your Life’ or pursuing Godly progress until it’s seemingly impossible to do so anymore!

This Concept means that if you messed up in 2016, you don’t have to carry that guilt with you into 2017. God doesn’t want us to be ashamed and living in guilt because of our past, he wants us to repent, and continue on towards a future that is more Godly and prosperous.

I’m saying that as we take an inventory of the year that just passed we should take that information, that data, and those statistics, and  apply it to the future, to improve this life for the Glory of Jesus

Today I want to offer a word of encouragement that is found in the book of Philippians.

Chapter 3 verse 13-14:
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

According to Scripture, Paul (previously Saul of Tarsus) before his ministry made a living on persecuting Christians. He was consistently stopping people from worshiping our God, and becoming a human stumbling block.

With this description of the author of Philippians in mind, it pains a beautiful picture of mistakes being turned into redemption.

It doesn’t matter if you drank that, smoked that, said that, did that, or thought that in 2016, today it matters what we plan to do with 2017.

Today it matters that we press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus!

We have an eternal life in store, we have a future with Christ, and if you’ve accepted him as your Lord and Savior,

You don’t have to look to the past!
Your heart is washed whiter than snow!

So how can we get to this place of looking forward instead of looking back?

We accept that Jesus already paid the price for our sins. We just celebrated Christmas, appreciated the incarnation of a God coming to the Earth so that he could take our place in a painful execution that was meant for us.

We don’t have to look back because Jesus looked back for us! He knows what you did in 2016 and still he has great things in store for you in 2017. He loves us anyway, He wants to fill your life with joy, or with prosperity, or with the Holy Spirit.

But you have to pursue it. You have to stop living in the past this new year, and start living in the future.

We’re gonna light this world on fire for God, we’re gonna revolutionize positivity, make it cool to be happy again, and fight those who romanticize depression, suicide, misery.

God has a plan for us that is more powerful than a mistake and it’s consequences.

I know the love of our heavenly father is enough to pierce through the veil of misery that you invited into your life, and there is a new year waiting, full of possibility, prosperity, and blessings, you just have to reach for it…

Paul went from persecuting Christians, to Preaching Christianity, and your mistakes last year can be the foundation for your ministry this year!
